Rohingya (R) Myanmar Language - 069
Rohingya is a language spoken by the Rohingya people, primarily in the Rakhine State of Myanmar, and also by Rohingya communities in Bangladesh, Malaysia, and other countries. It belongs to the Indo-Aryan branch of the larger Indo-European language family. The Rohingya language has its own distinct characteristics in terms of phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar, and it is written in both the Arabic and Latin scripts.
The Rohingya people have faced significant challenges, including displacement and persecution, which have had an impact on the preservation and promotion of their language. Rohingya is not officially recognised in Myanmar, and the community has experienced restrictions on the use of their language in education and official documents. However, efforts are being made by Rohingya diaspora communities and advocates to document and sustain the language, recognizing its importance in preserving the cultural identity of the Rohingya people.
