Kurdish Gorani is a Northwestern Iranian language spoken by the Gorani people, primarily in the mountainous regions of Iraq, Iran, and Syria. It is part of the larger Kurdish language continuum, exhibiting distinctive features that set it apart. Gorani has a significant presence in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, particularly in areas around Halabja and Sulaymaniyah. It is also spoken by Gorani communities in parts of Iran, such as Kermanshah Province, and in some regions of Syria. Despite being less widely spoken than some other Kurdish varieties, Gorani plays a crucial role in the cultural expression and identity of the Gorani people.
